the last time I had to draw a buddha, I made it female with dreadlocks. This is what happens if you grow up in an Asian society. you end up going 'FUCK RELIGIOS ICONS'. -_-
to be honest I cheated a bit
I did the lines in ink then planned out the tone in photoshop so all I needed to do with the ink was copy the tone up on the screen. It allowed me to plan out the tone a lot better then just winging it like most people seem to do.
and researching buddha I have seen pictures of a thin woman or a fat man (interestingly I have never seen a fat woman or thin man buddha). The only common trait is usually buddha is meditating and buddha has big bottoms to his/her ears.
see I love that buddha statue because no matter what picture i've seen of it there is always dark shadows cast all over it. There is almost something sinister about it since it always has atleast one dark corner.
thank you very much. I really appreciate that.
lately I keep on feeling like I want to just sell out my "style" and take up drawing something stupid like "hot anime chicks", "anthro porn", or something else that is equily as popular so I can generate more sales of my work and pay the bills. but comments like this make me want to hold onto my style for just a bit longer in hopes that I can find people who want more out of art then seeing some "hot" cat girl slamming another cat girl.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

The photonotes.org Dictionary of Film and Digital Photography is one place to stop and get it all answered. This is quite a valuable resource that explains in depth what a photography term means, and will help those understand who might not know what something is.

Your art is different then most DA's I have seen. It's usually the same boring stuff..but yours always seem to have its own mind behind it.

so thank you
